Sports nutrition stores offer for sale not only real dietary supplements. They market steroidal compounds as dietary supplements and offer them for sale. But authorities try to control and avoid sale of steroids as if they were just supplements. That’s why clerks of sports nutrition stores distribute steroids illegally. Those that come to such stores are frequently informed that they may buy steroids as well.
But these conditions are known not only by consumers of steroids but also by police. So, police officers conduct undercover investigations in order to bust sports nutrition shops that sell steroids. Clerks should understand that if a client wants to get steroids, arranging a deal outside the shop, he must be an undercover agent. That’s why those who are implicated in illicit operations linked with sale of steroids should be very careful to prevent legal troubles. However they know about these aspects, they make typical mistakes that lead to arrests, charges and prison.
Let take as an example a clerk of the General Nutrition Centers (GNC) store located in East Walpole (Massachusetts). George Touma sold steroids along with dietary supplements. When police officers were informed about illegal operations of this man, they began to conduct an investigation. The investigation lasted about a month and was led by The Walpole Police Department.
An undercover police officer came to the shop often and purchased nutrition supplements. He was speaking with the clerk quite often. So, a friendly relation was formed. Finally they discussed about steroids. The undercover officer said that he would like to get steroids. Thus, he agreed to buy 2 vials of steroids from George Touma. The officer had to give $300 for the preparations. The deal was arranged outside the shop. After the purchase had taken place police officers detained George Touma.
As a result, George Touma was accused of illegal possession and distribution of steroids.
