Many football players that fail drug tests affirm that they have applied Adderall. Actually, they have administered steroids. Why do they claim that they have tested positive for Adderall? What is Adderall? This is a preparation that is prescribed for treatment of attention-deficit disorder. But this medication is applied not only for this therapeutic need. Athletes and bodybuilders administer this preparation for performance-enhancing effects.
As for steroids, they are harshly blamed. Numerous journalists, specialists, anti-doping officers and ordinary individuals affirm that these preparations are very dangerous. They may cause various grave undesirable effects. Anabolic steroids are demonized even for several crimes. But as for Adderall, this preparation is not demonized in the society. So, a lot of football players try to avoid criticism. They don’t want to be demonized for application of such forbidden drugs, as anabolic steroids. Since consumers of Adderall are not criticized harshly, football players claim that they have failed drug tests because they have used Adderall.
A football player compared this situation with following cases: those that are detained with cocaine tell others that they have taken marijuana because cocaine is more harshly demonized than the last one.
You should not think that every football player who says that he has tested positive for Adderall has really applied anabolic steroids. But it is possible to conclude that those that administer Adderall are less demonized than those who use steroids.
