A judge refused to accept the steroid excuse of a former police officer

David Busemeyer, a former police officer of the West Chest Police Department, attempted to prove that his addiction to anabolic steroids was responsible for his corruption. But the former police officer wasn’t capable to convince the judge. As a result, the former police officer was sentenced to 6 months in jail. David Busemeyer was pleaded guilty to leaking confidential information of the Police Department that started an investigation related to a steroid dealer.
Busemeyer noted in the court that he had been outraged and upset because of his addiction to steroids.
The defense attorney for the former police official tried to convince the judge that his client had to be cured from his addiction. He put efforts to prove that it would be the most suitable sentence for this officer’s crime.
According to certain court documents, the former police officer applied steroids for 4 years. Furthermore, he took 10-15 pain pills under prescriptions to relieve pains provoked by steroids.  
But the judge refused to accept such excuse. It seemed at the beginning that he wanted to hand down even heavier sentence but then he gave a lighter sentence because he had to follow sentencing guidelines.
The judge Spaeth noticed that David Busemeyer had put in danger own safety and safety of other police officials. He put at risk reputation of the whole police department.
 It became obvious that David Busemeyer had extra-marital relationship with the sister of the distributor of steroids who was investigated by police officers. David Busemeyer told his girlfriend and his brother that an investigation to bust the distributor of steroids began to be conducted.
However David Busemeyer didn’t say the name of the informant, he presented enough information to define who he was.
Police officials raided Busemeyer’s house and found steroids and evidence of his application of steroids.
It was decided not to bring a criminal action against the former police official for possession of steroids and fake prescriptions for application of these drugs.
