Recently Victor Conte, the founder of BALCO, expressed his thoughts about testing program of anti-doping agencies and the current state of doping among athletes.
Conte has claimed that it is unlikely that the 2012 Summer Olympics would be free from usage of steroids and other doping medicines. The founder of BALCO confirmed in an interview that Olympic anti-doping testing program had various lacks. So, steroid users were also chosen to participate in the Olympic Games.
Victor Conte doesn’t believe that intake of banned medicines has decreased. He doesn’t agree with persons who affirm that reduced performance in various sports proves that steroids and other related medicines are almost excluded from sports.
The founder of BALCO affirms that steroids are widely applied now too. Efforts of anti-doping agencies promoted adoption of athletes. So, athletes don’t take as increased dosages as have been utilized before. Nonetheless, administration of steroids and other doping drugs remains to be a problem.
Conte is sure that athletes don’t apply such designer steroids, as THG. Instead of applying such products, sportspersons administer the steroid testosterone which is claimed to be the grandfather of all steroids. Victor Conte adds that since testosterone is fast-acting and it is purchasable in form of creams, gels, patches and injections, it is widely applied by sportspeople. Moreover, not very enhanced doses of testosterone are required in order to acquire great effects. This steroid is widespread among Major League Baseball players.
Victor Conte criticizes anti-doping system. He notes that anti-doping agencies have significant ambiguities. Even a truck can go through loopholes which are in doping rules, according to the founder of BALCO.
