Damaging effects of steroids on brain

As you know, steroids are administrated by several sportsmen in order to enhance muscle size and strength. But according to late researches, utilizing of steroids is a very negative aspect for brain cells. Since these preparations enhance level of testosterone in body, they influence negatively and even destruct brain cells. This confirmation about destruction of brain cells by enhanced level of testosterone was proven by a research conducted by Yale School of Medicine that was published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
Scientists confirm that enhanced aggressiveness shown by steroids consumers testify that certain amount of nerve cells was killed due to administration of steroids.
Barbara Ehrlich, a professor, a leader of a study related to taking of steroids, advices not to condemn steroids consumers, if they act aggressively. It is necessary to know that it must have been not their fault. Steroids must have been responsible for aggressiveness of those who use these products.
The research leaded by Yale School of Medicine approved that testosterone destroyed nerve cells. One of important functions of testosterone produced naturally is following: to kill nerve cells that may be harmful for the whole body due to their destructions. But when level of testosterone is induced, it destroys not only destructed cells but healthy ones too. It can cause such dangerous problems, as appearing of Alzheimer's and Huntingdon's disease and others.

Aggressiveness of hamsters due to steroids
Hamsters were recruited in a study published in the journal Behavioral Neuroscience. The specialists involved in the research observed effects of anabolic steroids upon the hamsters. The hamsters that were given these medications became too aggressive. Their brain activity was modified a lot due to these drugs.
The scientists concluded that steroids damaged people’s brain the same way as hamsters’ brain. According to their words, people suggest that steroids are illegal due to their athletic effects. But people should understand that the main reason is harmful influence of these products upon human health. Steroids should be utilized only for treatment of diseases by prescriptions of pharmacists. Administration of steroids in sports should be forbidden totally.
