According to Italian laws, intake of performance-enhancing drugs is prohibited in this country.
Italy’s Anti-Narcotic Group is too strict and even aggressive in its activity to detect athletes who are suspected in administration of anabolic steroids or other banned preparations that possess performance-enhancing effects. Recently the investigation was connected with the Danish cyclist Michael Rasmussen.
Hidden hearing system was set up in a certain pharmacy. The recordings do not contain any information which could prove that Rasmussen had purchased anabolic steroids. But they contain a sound of an ampoule which is broken and thrown into a metal can. The investigators base their affirmations on this sound. They try to affirm with the help of this sound that the Danish cyclist used performance-enhancing drugs. Michael Rasmussen points out that the investigators conclude that he was on the steroid therapy on that day. Don’t you find this conlusion strange?
The Danish athlete mentioned that he had purchased different medicines from the pharmacist Guido Nigreli for himself, his family and his pets. He noted that he had got only legal drugs for therapeutic needs. The Danish sportsperson pointed out that he hadn’t purchased and used any forbidden medications for athletic purposes.
It is known that Rasmussen’s sport history is not simple one. However this cyclist is a high level sportsman and he is quite celebrated, he wasn’t honest in any situation. This Danish sportsperson was removed from the 2007 Tour the France for lying. He was wearing the yellow jersey in the days before the race. He violated the rule of Tour the France and received a two-year suspension.

According to Sonksen, workers of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they do not see the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved by specialists, the HGH biomarker test is more useful than HGH isoform test.
However experts confirm about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t intend to to use the other method.

The leader of the studies conducted in the Salk Institute, Ronald Evans, notices that this knowledge can lead to elaboration of some new medications which will benefit not only for sportsmen and bodybuilders that train but also for persons who are sedentary.
The scientists of the Salk Institute mention about individuals who can’t perform physical exercises because they have various health problems, such as diabetes, frailty, immobility and other physical or mental factors which lead to sedentarism. The scientists try to elaborate certain specific medicines that could benefit for sedentary people so, as exercises benefit for healthy individuals. Now they experiment with sedentary mice.
As for anabolic steroids, they can cause increase of muscles in sedentary people. But people that use anabolic steroids have to train and change their diets to reach better results.
If new medications which block NCoR1 are elaborated by scientists successfully, they will make essential changes in sedentary people. But can you imagine which positive effects will be caused in athletes?
But there is also an important difference between anabolic steroids and NCoR1 suppression. It is known that anabolic steroids lead to undesirable symptoms; some of them may be quite dangerous for health and even for life. Moreover, anabolic steroids can lead to severe unexpected results especially in women. But as for NCoR1 suppression, specialists are sure that preparations which will suppress this genome regulator will not lead to negative results.
There is an article about NCoR1 suppression which has got the following title: “NCoR1 Is a Conserved Physiological Modulator of Muscle Mass and Oxidative Function”. It represents results of different experiments which enrolled mice and nematodes. The experiments have shown that NCoR1 suppression benefits for muscle mass very much. The mice with suppression of this genome regulator had got more induced muscles and ran faster than others.
Unfortunately, the mice with NCoR1 suppression were not compared with the mice that were given anabolic steroids. If these two types of mice were compared, the results of the experiments would be very valuable for further researches and conclusions.
It is possible to mention that elder persons and persons who suffer of muscle dystrophy will be soon involved in studies to check benefits of new potential drugs.

A person in New Mexico used his own house to produce anabolic steroids

Ruben Jaramillo, a person in New Mexico, is charged with child abuse. Police raided his house and discovered that his house was a clandestine lab that had manufactured anabolic steroids. According to New Mexico laws, a person can be charged with child abuse, if he\she even only allows children to be there, where the chemical compounds or proper equipment applied for manufacture or keeping of these illegal medications are present.
When the Albuquerque Police Department’s Eastside Narcotics Team raided the house, they saw that there was an underground lab in it. Police oficcers found some kilograms of raw powder for production of steroids, such substances, as benzyl alcohol and sunflower oil, more than 150 vials of anabolic steroids. Certain vials were labeled “Testosterone Cypionate”. Moreover, police told that information linked with prices, quantities and types of steroids had been found too. Chemical compounds were in various rooms around the house, including the bedroom and the kitchen.
Ruben’s two daughters of 11 and 13 years old were at home, when police invaded the house.
It is known that New Mexico is not the only state where the manufacture of anabolic steroids can be defined as child abuse. At least 10 other states have the same laws. Such laws are established not without any reasons.
Chemical substances can be toxic. They may influence on children’s health too negatively. It is important also to know that there is a risk of fires and explosions of several chemical substances. Parents who produce anabolic steroids at home do not care of their children’s health. The children may face great dangers in such cases. How can children live in a methamphetamine lab and avoid dangers?
Parents that only use steroids differ from those who produce them, especially at home.
This is the first case in Albuquerque, when manufacture of anabolic steroids is treated as child abuse by prosecutors.

Victor Conte supplied steroids to many sportspersons

Victor Conte tells that Dwain Chambers, the British sportsperson, applied steroids. Conte supplied these products to Chambers in 2003. As it is known, Chambers applied tetrahydrogestrinone.
Maurice Green, the American sprinter, utilized steroids, testosterone cream, EPO and some stimulants. Angel Guillermo Heredia told that he had sold these medications to Maurice Green. But it is important to note that this American athlete started to get these preparations from Heredia after he had won 2 medals in Olympics.
Although Victor Conte doesn’t know about all details connected with possession and administration of steroids by these all sportsmen who participated in the Sydney Olympics, he confirms that anabolic steroids played their role at the women’s 100 meter final of the 2003 Championship in France. Conte sold steroids to five of the finalists.
Kelly White, the winner, got the banned drugs from Conte too. After she had tested positive for Modafinil, she forfeited her gold medals. Later Kelly White said that she had applied tetrahydrogestrinone and the blood booster EPO.
Conte wasn’t surprised about the progress of anti-doping activities linked with steroids in sport.
